GIS Fundamentals Course
ArcGIS Pro
About this Course
The GIS Fundamentals course provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles, tools, and workflows of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Through eight structured sections, participants will gain hands-on experience in spatial data creation, visualization, editing, design, quality control, web publishing, and spatial analysis. The course bridges theoretical concepts with real-world applications, empowering learners to manage, analyze, and share geospatial data efficiently using modern GIS technologies such as ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online. By the end of the course, participants will be able to build complete GIS projects from data collection to web sharing and spatial modeling.
Goals
• Understand GIS Fundamentals – Grasp the core concepts, data types, and coordinate systems used in GIS. • Create and Manage Spatial Data – Digitize, edit, and manage vector and raster datasets effectively. • Apply Cartographic Principles – Design professional map layouts, apply symbology, and produce dynamic map series. • Work with 3D GIS – Visualize in three dimensions using 3D tools and scenes. • Design Geodatabases – Understand geodatabase structure, relationships, and data design rules, including domains and subtypes. • Ensure Data Quality – Apply topology and validation techniques to maintain spatial and attribute data integrity. • Publish and Share Web GIS Content – Create and configure web maps, dashboards, and field data collection apps using ArcGIS Online. • Perform Spatial Analysis and Modeling – Execute vector and raster analyses, automate workflows, and develop spatial models for decision support.
